Windows7FirewallService won't start

Windows7FirewallService won't start

Postby frank4082 » Sat Dec 31, 2011 3:30 pm

During the last weeks my Windows7Firewall 3.5 Plus did not seem to intercept my internet traffic properly anymore (on Win 7 64bit), so I decided to upgrade to v4 Plus. I uninstalled v3.5 first; then installed v4.

I never got v4 to work (msgbox "Windows 7 Firewall Control Service is not running"). Also, Windows7FirewallService is set to "Stopped" in services. When I try to start the Windows7FirewallService I get msgbox
"Windows could not start Windows7FirewallService service on Local computer.
Error1075: The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion".

Restarting/ re-installing did not solve the problem. v4 free version 64bit is producing the same error.

Any help would be much appreciated; I really like this product. Thanks

W7FC service (for W7, 32 and 64bit) depends on BFE (Base Filtering Engine)
Please check the service state.
BFE is the underlying network security core; BFE is required for WindowsFirewall (MpssSvc service) as well.
Please check the ability to start WF (MpssSvc service) and keep us informed

Many thanks for the prompt support! BFE was actually missing from my system (possibly after a recent strange report from my antivirus software) but I was able to restore it by adding a chunk of information to the registry (described on various web pages). Windows7Firewall now works again.

I am very happy, thanks again.
