Re-registration required after update?

Re-registration required after update?

Postby nieroster » Thu Feb 09, 2012 8:30 pm

Since 4.5 it seems that updating the program resets the registration status to trial without notifying the user. This is kind of annoying for paying users. No other program I know of behaves this crazy when it comes to registering.

This does not explain, why a simple update invalidates registration!

Actually it was not a simple update. There was a set of new features introduced.
Anyway the minor updates are free despite the license is valid for purchased version only formally.
Moreover the need of the (single click) re-registration after update/re-installation was announced in advance.

Where was this announced? And what is the reason for an update besides introducing new features or fixing existing ones? Your argumentation is quite strange.

You perfectly know that re-registration consits of more than one click: Right click task bar icon/Register - finding the Serial Number (several clicks) - entering the serial number - click Online (automatic) - click register.

And what for do we need all of this? Why is the program not capable of managing it's registration status properly when being updated? Why do you treat your customers like thieves?

FAQ/How to register
Formally any update is a self contained package, i.e. can be installed independently.

> You perfectly know that re-registration consits of more than one click:

Does it take more than 10-15 seconds?

>Why do you treat your customers like thieves?

That’s not correct.
We do respect our customers and protect any the product related personal data including the license code (not stored within the installation).

>Why is the program not capable of managing it's registration status properly when being updated?

As the result the product can not re-register automatically.
Moreover, the product is the firewall. Needless to say that a product to protect from undesired activity may not issue its own activity automatically.

Anyway thank you for expressing your opinion, we will try to reconsider the registration scheme in the future.
The discussion subject went beyond the technical aspects.
