There is no way to migrate the settings from the portable version to the desktop one unfortunately.
However the settings migration is not recommended. Usually the applications activity redetection (actually quick and easy process) allows reconsidering the correct permissions settings….

The latest portable versions are published http://vistafirewallcontrol.freeforums.org/post9.html#p9
Please inform us of you find any problems with 3.3 portable.

I've migrated manually now (by taking screenshots of 'programs' and 'zones' popup informations). It wasn't that time consuming.

The reason to go on was that the latest final portable was very unstable when it comes to deleting programs. It crashed very often. Also when switching between 'Normal' and 'EnableAll' it needed up to 10 secs until the icon changed (brick/hole-in-brick).

Currently my 'ruleset/programs tab' is quite empty. Once its filled up again i will test that behavior again.

Could you please clarify whether 3.3 portable is unstable while deleting the programs from the program list.
It is exactly the only portable related problem we expect fixed in 3.3.
We would like to know how to reproduce the problem if it still exists.

Switching from Mode:Normal to Mode:EnableAll should be usually instant.
However switching from Mode:* to Mode:Normal or Mode:Expensive... actually takes time depending on the number of the listed applications.
W7FC actually need to iterate throw the applications and re-apply all the security rules.
We did not expect the time is mission critical, however if you give us a reasonable sample of the time limitations we would reconsider the mode switching procedure. For now we rather treat Mode:EnableAll and Mode:DisableAll as the service modes, the modes helping to find/fix a problem in the security settings than the modes required for a sensible operation.

I personally use 'EnableAll' to temporarily allow/unblock Port25, WindowsUpdate and similar.

I will check the new portable version.

As far as we could understand you do not need the port opened for all the applications.
So, most probably, there is no sense to use Mode:EnableAll just to open port 25.
We would suggest the following: Create 2 zones with nearly the same rules sets as required for normal the application (which requires temporarily port 25) function. The first rules set with port 25 enabled, the second one with port 25 disabled. This allows you to just switch the zone for the single application, make the changes promptly and not to open all apps for everything even temporarily.

Regrading WindowsUpdate… There are 2 predefined zones - Local+DNS+DHCP+Update(svchost) and Local+DNS+DHCP(svchost). The first one applied to “Host Process….” (svchost.exe) enables auto-updates the second disables.

You're right but it needs more clicks. :)
I have some more apps that i control this way. Its ok, its not a problem with the lag.

I tested the new portable (quickly). I could delete all programs without problems. Looks good to me. I will stick with full fledged version though now.
