Logfile size unit not clear

Logfile size unit not clear

Postby PietO » Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:14 pm

i can't find the unit of the logfile size which can be defined in the settings tab of Windows78FirewallControl version 4.0.144.38; also not in the Help Info. It could be Kbytes or Mbytes, ..

Please extend the GUI with this textual info: e.g. KBytes

Yes, apparently you missed it. I could put an image on the forum, but i hope that you understand that i would not post this, if the info was simple visible.

The space after the tekst "LogSize" is available but no text "(mb)
"

The curious thing is the "(mb)" notice exists in the release and the latest betas, juts verified.
Could you please provide us with the screenshot, the version number and Windows7FirewallControl.exe sent as attachment to support [at] sphinx-soft [dot] com referring the thread.
We suspect the problem occurred in a discontinued version or you have some specific font settings preventing the text fitting in the reserved space. We should verify the version and the binary integrity.

indeed: i'll do as requested.

Note: the version was already in the first post (4.0.144.38) which i downloaded today and did a legitimate registration (after buying licence today); thus no old / discontinued version, but the latest formal available. Fontsetting are quite normal for Win7-64 bit, but ALL-possible fancy visual effects disabled (aero etc.).

Well.... we are lost in conjectures, we have just tried 4.0.1144.38 (EN) on w7-64 (clear installation) and the "mb" notice is visible perfectly.
Any ideas for where the difference could be.
What's about screen DPI? Any other labels cut?
We could suspect the label can be cut by a limited field width, but the current field width is enough to show even an additional letter.
Please realize there is no problem to fix almost any problem if it's reproducible.
Could you please the screen shot?

All info per Email sent; reason most probably the increase of font scaling to 125% (instead of the default 100%); note no impact on any functionality, but just a small chance to get this missing info for me when configuring the firewall. First application where i noted such a problem.

Thank you very much.
Actually the font scaling may cause such problems.

Sometimes GDI is able to change the font glyphs (in order to present text more "accurately") implicitly (when varying text-to-display height for instance) without a notice even a font is specified strictly.
It happens not with raster fonts only.
Undoubtedly GDI tries to make the best choice however some drawbacks should be expected.

We will definitely try to find and fix all the related issues.
