About "Register"

Postby claudiubotezatu » Thu Feb 02, 2012 1:41 am

Hi,

I got the License code and I input it in step 2.
I got the Registration code (step3) and I pressed "Online (automatically)"
A code appeared in registration code window and I press "Register" and the whole window closed.

Now:

1. When I pressed " "Online (automatically)" why I did not get an allert for outbound connection from Win 7 firewall controll for "Windows7FirewallControl.exe'?

2. If I select "Register" from the task bar, the window "Register" will open again ; the is a registration code there, however the "Purchase" button is active (blue) and if I press it I can purchase again; maybe is a good ideea to grey it out if a valid registration exists.

3.The "Register" window is not password protected so can be oppened by anybody and the registration code can be deleted ; will the program still be registered if the registration code is deleted?

4.The whole registration system seems to be overly sophisticated with codes and serials being exchanged between the pc and your servers; if registration was succesfull the whole window should dissapear and a message like "Version 4.x.xx.xxx registered for John Doe" would be more than enough; on several occasions (2 times) while I was reviewing a rule , the "Register" window popped up with a valid registration code inserted; the way registration is set up now makes difficult to distinguish between a bug or a failled registration.

Thanks,
Claudiu

W7FC just enables itself automatically for the registration. There is no need to overload the user with setting the permission for the action explicitly and personally initiated

There are no signs of valid registration, it’s by design.

3.The "Register" window is not password protected so can be oppened by anybody and the registration code can be deleted ; will the program still be registered if the registration code is deleted?

The registration code is required to keep the registration valid. So the code should not be deleted/altered.
W7FC is an application for personal (not public) computers, so we do expect a random person has no access to the PC. If you would like to use the PC in multi-user environment, please create multiple accounts and switch between the accounts accordingly.
Settings/RunForAdmins and per-user permissions to launch the control panel (The Server edition) are available.

>4.if registration was succesfull the whole window should dissapear and a message like "Version 4.x.xx.xxx registered for John Doe" would be more than enough;

We do not have publicly available relations between lic code and personal information.
Otherwise any stolen missed lic code would reveal the genuine user name.

>on several occasions (2 times) while I was reviewing a rule , the "Register" window popped up with a valid registration code inserted;

That would mean the re-registration could be required. Re-apply the lic code and re-register online. If the registration code is changed, the popup was not accidental. (read the FAQ “HowtoRegister”for the details please)

>the way registration is set up now makes difficult to distinguish between a bug or a failled registration.

If the registration is failed (for any reason) you will be shown with a descriptive error message.
